Our contribution

Despite various measures the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea is not decreasing. This is primarily caused by excessive nutrient inputs from intensive specialized farming. Our contribution to solving this problem involves a systemic shift to an Ecological recycling Agriculture in association with the rest of the food chain from farmer to consumer. By implementing our concepts we also involve key actors from authorities, science and the private sector (business and NGOs). Full scale learning centers functioning as Sustainable Food Societies are being established in all countries in the Baltic Sea Region.

Did you know?

Clover and other leguminous species have the capacity to fix atmospheric nitrogen due to their symbiosis with rhizobium bacteria in their root nodules.

The nitrogen fixated in the soil functions as fertilizer for other crops in a crop rotation.

Fixation of nitrogen builds up the humus content in the soil which also has the advantage of reducing it as a greenhouse gas in the atmosphere
