This Special Christmas issue presents BERAS education philosophy shortly. Good education examples from Poland are highlighted and observations from Education seminar in Kaunas are brought up as well. The work around one of the main outputs of BERAS –the Guideline Book –is accelerating, read the report from Berlin by Karin Stein-Bachinger.

First anniversary issue of BERAS Newsletter includes a special report from an Baltic Ecovillages -project. A common concern for Baltic Ecovillages and BERAS projects is securing of sustainable and prosperous development of rural areas around the Baltic Sea. This issue also covers some interesting thoughts of students who participated BERAS Summer Academy. Learn more in this issue.

 

 

June 2012

This issue includes a travelogue from a study trip from Poland in May. The trip consisted of visits in three new Sustainable Food Societies, Danuta and Jacek Plotta farm, Zdziarski organic farm in Labiszyn and Juchowo farm and a conference dealing with SFS. It also contains an article about the upcoming BERAS Summer Academy. The emphasis in the course is Sustainable Food Societies and the social and environmental impacts of it.

 

 

January 2012

This issue presents two Sustainable Food Societies, also called BERAS Implementation centres (BIC). The Eco-village Brodowin in Germany is a large Demeter farm with its own dairy, box scheme and nature conservation programme.  The Danish BIC is a joint venture of three organic farms Krogagergaard, Skovlygaard and Stengaarden, with processing facilities, farm shops and box schemes. There is also an article on educational events organised by the project partner Kaunas District Municipality in Lithuania.

This issue features reports from the establishment of BERAS Implementation centres in Belarus,Russia and Finland.  The Mobile BERAS Implementation centre is also presented.
